    Speed and Impulsion

    Dale Lassetter Dressage, Training

This has been a busy week including the updating of my 1st Aid. Luckily not much has changed since the last time but it is good to be refreshed on procedures.

If there is anything you would like to see on this blog, or any points you need to discuss please let me know and we will see what can be done.

    Speed and Impulsion.

I have come across two cases this week where horses are travelling too fast and so, are unable to balance, thus losing rhythm and regularity.

Each horse has a natural rhythm of his own and the rider needs to switch on some energy on a light contact and then “feel”for the right one for them.

It should feel energetic and workmanlike but not hectic, and have an easy swing to the strides. The test for this is to be able to make turns, curves and corners at a consistent regular beat to the steps and at the same time the contact on the reins remains light and even.
